This drawing is my interpretation of a photo I found on Flckr. I was so pleased with it that I hung the original in my cubicle for a time. A certain woman of the nursing profession took interest in it and wanted to buy it. I was delighted. I thought 80 odd dollars for the original art plus the cost of framing was more than fair. I had it framed in a purple suede mat, using a standard black frame that I already had brand new in the cellophane and without collecting half the money up front, I presented it to her. The total was somewhere around $160. She didn't want to pay that much. But instead she said that she preferred a wire to hang it. So I took it back and added a wire frame and brought it back to her. Then she pointed out that the frame had scuff marks on it, and she questioned my pricing judgement. She said, "You're not famous." Then she tried to negotiate the price saying basically that this original art that I created was not worth $160. I told her for less than $160, I would rather keep it. And I did.
I call it St Louis Sunset but it could be called Lessons Learned. 20 years later, I will sell the print for almost as much. I gave the framed original to my mother.
The art is printed on Hahnemuele Photo Rag paper and this frame is silver metal with a double mat; the bottom mat is black and the top mat is white. Standard acrylic protects art from 82-85% of UV rays. Shatter resistant.
